The music of the Celts is an ancient style that still beats loudly today. Representing Irish, Scottish, and Welsh heritage, Celtic music is ethereal, with a mystical quality that enraptures its listeners. It can be soothing or lively, and the themes tend to be dark and melancholy. People of many different races enjoy the beauty of Celtic music by listening to the many CDs still produced by many musicians.

Recently a CD called "Celtic Woman" was released featuring a group of various female Celtic singers. Chloe Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Meav Ni Mhaolchatha, Orla Fallon, Mairead Nesbitt and newcomer Deirdre Shannon perform many different Celtic songs expertly on this CD. The chorus of violins, guitars, and pipes transports the listener directly back to the flaming bonfire of an ancient Celtic festival. Songs include the well-known "Danny Boy," Lord of the Rings" "May It Be," "Isle of Innisfree," "Nella Fantasy," "One World," "Orinoco Flow," and many more. Each of the six beautiful singers perform the songs wonderfully, and the accompanying DVD is an amazing sight to behold. Dressed in lovely Celtic-style outfits, the singers are like faeries alighting on Earth to grace us with the ceoil, the music of the Elves. The singers display their talents by singing solo or as a chorus and playing such instruments as the violin and the harp.

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, the "Celtic Woman" tour is coming to the Connecticut area. On March 9th, in Syracuse, New York, they will be performing at The Landmark. On the 11th they will be at the Chevrolet Theater in Wallingford, Connecticut, and on the 16th at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket. Finally, on the 17th, in New York City, New York, they will be singing on the illuminated stage of the Radio City Music Hall, relishing their last performance in the Northeast.

Tickets are currently on sale. If you can manage to get your hands on some, don't hesitate to go to the concert. It will blow you away. And if you can't afford the concert, Borders sells the CD and DVD separately and together. This amazing concert is a must-see for any and all Celtic and folk music lovers.
